Interactive Brokers launches cryptocurrency trading

Interactive Brokers Group announced the launch of cryptocurrency trading through Paxos Trust Company. Interactive Brokers (IB) clients will be able to trade and store BTC, ETH, LTC, BCH, with transaction fees as low as 0.12-0.18% of transaction volume.

By giving our clients access to cryptocurrency trading, we recognize the need to meet growing investor demand for a convenient and inexpensive way to trade cryptocurrencies, along with other asset classes, said Interactive Brokers CEO Milan Galik.

Now, IB clients do not need to create other accounts or register on exchanges to trade cryptocurrencies: all the necessary functionality is available on a single platform along with classic financial instruments.

Initially, access to cryptocurrencies will only be offered to U.S. residents with an individual or joint account, but in the future a similar feature will be available for other account types in all parts of the world.

Consumer interest in accessing digital assets through trusted intermediaries will shift the entire financial industry. Paxos provides a regulated infrastructure that allows cryptocurrency to be used safely and with less risk. Our partnership with Interactive Brokers will give sophisticated investors fast and reliable access to the digital economy, said Paxos CEO Charles Cascarilla.
