Democracy4all

Democracy4all is the third annual international conference. This year, it takes place in Barcelona at Casa Llotja de Mar, one of the city’s most significant landmarks on November 11th & 12th. This historic site will bring together talent, experts, and policymakers to analyze and plan advances in technology and regulation from different perspectives.
What makes this event unique is the use of blockchain as a tool for democratic improvement, including different aspects of social, corporate, and individual governance. With this orientation, the organizers set the event apart as people-oriented. While the business aspect of blockchain is still important, Democracy4all emphasizes how it can improve society’s wellbeing.
D4A also transforms Catalonia into a two-day hub for political actors and institutions that would not have the opportunity to cooperate otherwise. This speeds up the dialogue between government representatives, developers, and emerging projects.
Like all previous events, Democracy4all will follow “12 Principles of Good Democratic Governance set by the Council of Europe”:
- 1Participation
- 2Responsiveness
- 3Efficiency and Effectiveness
- 4Openness and Transparency
- 5Rule of Law
- 6Ethical Conduct
- 7Competence and Capacity
- 8Innovation and Openness to Change
- 9Sustainability and Long-Term Orientation
- 10Sound Financial Management
- 11Human rights, Cultural Diversity and Social Cohesion
- 12Accountability
These rules serve as a reference point for measuring and improving the quality of political and social governance and how it is delivered to citizens. Local governors are already using blockchain technology as a fundamental instrument.

Democracy4All is a set of conferences and networking spaces that advance discussions around blockchain applications. Since 2019, these events feature speakers from different fields, administrations, and companies. Participants can share new ways of engaging with the community and deliver new ways of working with blockchain technology.
The Democracy4All project is funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) and the European Fund for Regional Development (FEDER). The goal of the project is centered around developing innovative systems and enhancing democracy in less developed or developing economies.
